Tar & Chip Surfacing.
The installation of Tar & Chip or chip and seal, is achieved by applying a layer of hot liquid asphalt (tar) onto a pre-prepared surface and then immediately covered with a layer of aggregate chips, the latter adhering to the sticky tar. This creates a surface that is durable and its rough texture which is also skid resistant.
The advantages of this surface is that it is cost effective, durable and provides excellent traction so is suitable for heavy traffic and it also prevents water accumulation.
